Catalunya tested the treatment of cancer using viruses

The Catalan Institute of Oncology (ICO) is trying a new way of treating the tumors from virus , reported the health center said Thursday.

The new method, known as virotherapy, has been released as part of Science Week. The virotherapy allows modification of the virus that, once modified, they are able to infect and kill cancer cells without harming healthy tissue.

The head of the investigation, Manel Cascallar, highlighted the "power" of the new technique "because it has the ability to self-powered as the virus generates many copies of itself, copies that are infecting neighboring cells."
