Erectile dysfunction linked to heart disease risk

The Spanish Heart Foundation, the Foundation for Urological Research and the Spanish Society of Primary Care Physicians have launched an initiative under the motto "For you, for me, sex with a heart ', which aims to raise awareness people about the link between cardiovascular disease and erectile dysfunction.

The erectile dysfunction is an early marker of cardiovascular disease that could warn of the existence of a pathology heart up to three years before his appearance, according to Barcelona avanzadoen Spanish Heart Foundation.

"93% of patients with cardiovascular disease suffered from erectile dysfunction two to three years before," explained the group's national coordinator of the Semergen sexology, Froilan Sanchez, who stressed the importance of going to the doctor before first symptoms .

In this sense, Sanchez has revealed that only 16.5% of patients who have erectile dysfunction consult on own initiative with medical illness, and it is the same attitude which is 'critical' to detect this pathology.
