About 8 million people think about suicide in a year

A report by the Center for Disease Control and Prevention found that more than 8 million Americans have taken seriously the idea to commit suicide in a year.

The study, which was based on responses to a survey conducted in 2008 between 92.264 people 18 years or more, was the first that the entity has made ​​focusing on the thoughts and attitudes prior to suicide rather than the action itself. Their responses revealed that thoughts of suicide varied according to region, with the Midwest and West those most prone. Among the states, Georgia had the lowest level of suicidal thoughts with a 0.1%, while Rhode Island reported the highest with 2.8%. Similarly, this was the city with the highest attempted suicide that year. Also, women and young adults were more likely to contemplate killing themselves, even when they fail to realize the event at the end.
